Deandra Dottin, the former West Indian all-rounder, has decided to reverse her international retirement just in time for the T20 World Cup, starting on October 3. The 33-year-old, who had previously stepped away from international cricket in 2022, has written to Cricket West Indies (CWI), expressing her eagerness to return and contribute across all formats.
Dottin, who retired in August 2022, had criticized the board’s handling of player matters and communication issues. In her statement back then, she warned that West Indies Cricket might face significant challenges if the situation didn’t improve.
However, in a recent letter to CWI, Dottin shared that she had productive conversations with various stakeholders, including President Kishore Shallow, about her return to international cricket.
As quoted by windiescricket.com, she stated:
“Representing West Indies in international cricket has always been a matter of great pride and passion for me. After a period of reflection and thoughtful dialogue with various parties within Cricket West Indies, including Cricket West Indies President, Dr. Kishore Shallow, I am pleased to inform you that I am eager to return to the game that I love, and contribute my utmost to the West Indies women’s team across all formats, with immediate effect.”
Dottin emphasized her commitment to ensuring the West Indies team stays on a winning path and her desire to mentor younger players.
“I am confident that my experience, maturity, and skills will add value to the team as it has done in the past, and I am prepared to furnish my best efforts in every match and training session to ensure the team’s winning trajectory in international cricket. Moreover, I am enthusiastic about mentoring younger players and contributing to the overall development of women’s cricket in our region.”
Dottin will continue to lead the Trinbago Knight Riders for the third consecutive time in the upcoming CPL edition. With 270 international games under her belt and the honor of scoring the first women’s T20I century, her return is highly anticipated.

Dottin’s decision to come back to international cricket adds a thrilling dimension to the upcoming T20 World Cup, as fans and teammates alike look forward to her impactful presence on the field.
