Inter Milan got closer to winning the Serie A championship when Davide Frattesi scored a last-minute goal, helping them win 2-1 against Udinese on Monday.
Five minutes after the game was supposed to end, Lautaro Martinez took a shot close to the ground. The Udinese goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, managed to touch the ball, but it hit the goal post. Frattesi quickly took advantage of the situation and scored a goal from the rebound.
Udinese surprised the other team by scoring an easy goal before halftime, thanks to Lazar Samardzic. But shortly after halftime, Inter managed to tie the game when Hakan Calhanoglu scored from a penalty kick ten minutes into the second half.
Inter, who are leading by a lot, are ahead of AC Milan by 14 points. They have 82 points and there are seven games left.
Udinese, who are in danger of being relegated, felt really bad after conceding a late goal. They are in 15th place with 28 points, just two points above the relegation zone.
Early in the game, Inter started playing well but they were slow in setting up their attacks. They were trying to find weaknesses in Udinese’s defense but couldn’t make many scoring opportunities.
The visitors had a great chance to score in the first half when Hakan Calhanoglu shot towards the goal with a lot of power, but Okoye made a fantastic save to stop the ball.
Udinese scored a goal just before halftime because Inter’s defense and their goalkeeper, Yann Sommer, didn’t communicate well. A slightly deflected cross from Samardzic ended up going into the goal, catching Sommer off guard.
Inter started the second half strongly and controlled the ball at the beginning. Carlos Augusto scored a goal from a free-kick, but it was disallowed because he was offside.
Then, Calhanoglu scored a goal from a penalty after Okoye collided with Marcus Thurman in the air.
Inter’s strong play started to affect the game, although they seemed to lose some of their intensity. But then Frattesi scored the winning goal, and there was a lot of excitement on the Inter bench.
