Prize Money Breakdown for 2024 T20 World Cup: Winners to Bag .45 Million

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the prize money distribution for the ongoing Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, co-hosted by the West Indies and USA. A total prize pool of $11.25 million has been allocated, with the champions set to claim a staggering $2.45 million.

The runners-up, to be decided on June 29 in Bridgetown, Barbados, will secure a prize of at least $1.28 million. Losing semi-finalists will each earn $787,500, while teams exiting in the initial round will receive $382,500 each. Those placing 9th to 12th will be awarded $247,500 apiece.

Teams ranked 13th to 20th in the 20-team tournament will receive $225,000 each. Additionally, the ICC has announced a bonus of $31,154 for every match won by a team, excluding knockout games and the final.

ICC Chief Geoff Allardice emphasized the significance of the event and the corresponding prize money, stating, “This event is historic in so many ways, so it is fitting that the prize money for players reflects that. Hundreds of millions of fans around the world will be entertained by the players in what we’re hoping to be an Out of This World event.”

Notably, debutants Namibia, USA, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea have made their presence felt in the main draw of the T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, England enters the tournament as defending champions, aiming for their third title after securing victory over Pakistan two years ago at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Joining the ranks of the West Indies, who clinched the T20 World Cup in 2014 and 2016, England is eager to make their mark.

Their campaign kicks off against Scotland on June 4, following a recent 2-0 series win against Pakistan.
