The Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) 2024 is gearing up for an exciting start on June 2 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Gahunje, Pune. Running until June 22, this second edition promises intense cricketing action.
This year, six teams will compete in MPL 2024, playing each other twice during the league stage. The top four teams will advance to the playoffs beginning June 19, with the grand final scheduled for June 22.
Last year’s final was washed out due to rain, but the Ratnagiri Jets emerged victorious by finishing higher on the points table, edging out the Kolhapur Tuskers. Both teams ended with eight points each, but the Jets’ superior net run rate secured their championship title.
The opening match of MPL 2024 will be a thrilling night game, starting at 7 PM IST, between last year’s finalists, Ratnagiri Jets and Kolhapur Tuskers. With both teams packed with talent, this match promises to kick off the tournament with a bang.
Kedar Jadhav and Ankeet Bawne will continue to play pivotal roles for the Kolhapur Tuskers. Both had standout performances in MPL 2023 and aim to replicate their success this season. Bawne was the leading run-scorer with 363 runs in eight games, boasting an average of 60.50. Jadhav also made significant contributions, scoring 230 runs in eight matches. Their performance will be crucial for the Tuskers in MPL 2024.
Alongside Jadhav and Bawne, the Tuskers’ squad features experienced players like Siddharth Mhatre, Sachin Dhas, Manoj Yadav, and Shrikant Mundhe. The Kolhapur Tuskers are determined to surpass their runner-up finish from last year and clinch the title.
