Manchester United is on the verge of securing their inaugural summer acquisition as they have successfully come to terms with Chelsea for procuring midfielder Mason Mount.

The English national player is poised to become a club member in a transfer agreement valued at £60 million, which includes additional bonuses. He is scheduled to undergo a medical examination on Monday and subsequently put pen to paper on his contract.

In addition to the 24-year-old, Manchester United is actively seeking a goalkeeper and a striker. Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund currently rank as the immediate prospects for these positions.

The potential cost for acquiring Onana is estimated to be a minimum of £52 million, including additional incentives, whereas Hojlund could be secured for a fee of £49 million.

Here is a possible lineup for Manchester United if they successfully sign the duo following the addition of Mount.

Onana would undoubtedly assume the role of Manchester United’s primary goalkeeper, bringing his exceptional ball-playing abilities that perfectly align with manager Erik Ten Hag’s vision.

Additionally, the 27-year-old possesses the versatility to function as a sweeper-keeper, presenting a significant improvement over David de Gea, whose contract concluded after the previous month.

In front of Onana, the backline is expected to remain familiar from the previous season. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is preferred over Diogo Dalot at right-back due to his exceptional performance towards the end of the campaign.

Luke Shaw will be included in the starting lineup as the left-back, with Tyrell Malacia as the alternative option. Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez secure the central defensive positions.

Casemiro is a guaranteed starter in the number six role in the midfield. At the same time, Christian Eriksen is expected to be replaced by Mason Mount in the number eight position for the upcoming season.

During his debut season, Eriksen displayed promising performances, contributing with two goals and ten assists. However, he needed help in fulfilling his man-marking responsibilities. The inclusion of Mount is expected to bring a well-rounded dynamic to the midfield, combining creative prowess with relentless intensity off the ball.

Bruno Fernandes is anticipated to take charge of the team as the attacking midfielder, occupying the number 10 position. Marcus Rashford is likely to start on the left wing, while Antony is expected to feature on the right wing.

Should Hojlund join the club, he is expected to assume the leading role up front, surpassing the injury-prone Anthony Martial. Martial, who has struggled with injuries, may thrive with a reduced workload as a substitute, potentially increasing his effectiveness off the bench.
