The highly anticipated second edition of the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) 2024 is set to kick off on Sunday, June 2. Organized by the Maharashtra Cricket Association, the tournament aims to spotlight emerging talent across the state.

All matches will be hosted at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Gahunje, Pune, where six teams will vie for the title. The league stage features 30 matches, leading into the playoffs starting on June 19, with the grand final on June 22.

The inaugural edition saw the Ratnagiri Jets emerge victorious, clinching the title after the final was washed out, thanks to their top finish in the league stage. As defending champions, the Jets are eager to replicate their success this season.

The Ratnagiri Jets will kick off their title defense on June 2 against last year’s finalists, the Kolhapur Tuskers. Azim Kazi, who led the Jets to victory last year, returns with his wealth of experience and will be a crucial player for the team in MPL 2024.

Nikhil Naik, alongside Pradeep Dadhe, Dhiraj Phatangare, Satyajeet Bacchav, Divyang Hinganekar, and Vijay Pawale, will be key contributors for the Jets. The team will look to start their campaign strong with a winning performance.

Dhiraj Phatangare was the leading run-scorer for the Jets in MPL 2023, amassing 153 runs in six innings at an average of 30.60. Pradeep Dadhe was the team’s top wicket-taker, claiming 11 wickets in six matches and finishing as the third-highest wicket-taker in the tournament.

Vijay Pawale also made significant contributions with 10 wickets in six games. Both he and Dadhe will be pivotal in leading the Jets’ bowling attack in the upcoming season.
